Catholic Life
As a Voluntary Aided Catholic School we have very close links with Our Lady Queen of Peace Church and the Archdiocese of Birmingham. Children attend mass regularly and the clergy support our Religious Education provision, especially when preparing children for Reconciliation, Holy Communion and Confirmation.
Religious Education
At OLQP, Religious Education is a core subject alongside English, Maths and Science. Through our teaching of RE and our school mission statement 'To love and to share, believe and achieve,' we help children to experience, explore and understand the Catholic faith in more depth.
Our school follows the 'Learning and growing as the people of God' RE scheme which has been created by the Catholic Diocese of Birmingham. RE is taught weekly and gives children the opportunity to apply their understanding to everyday life. Each year every KS1 and KS2 class will study another faith from: Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Sikhism.
Prayer and Liturgy
Prayer and Liturgy is a crucial part to the spiritual life of our school and to the pupils' moral and spiritual development. Through the day we aim to initiate, encourage and provide opportunities for prayer. The children participate in daily acts of worship where they experience a personal relationship with God and gain knowledge of Jesus as a person as well as his teachings. These acts of worship are varied and include: Headteacher led liturgy, celebrations of achievements, phase and individual prayer and liturgy. Children are given the time and opportunity to lead these sessions as well as them being led by Teachers. Weekly, the children also participate in hymn practice where they sing the words of God. As a Catholic School we use The Wednesday Word to reflect on the weekly Gospel and teachings of Jesus. This valuable resource can be accessed below to allow families the chance to reflect together on the Gospel at home.
Each Key Stage 2 class has two prayer leaders who help to lead their peers in Prayer and reflection. Over the year they have the opportunity to impact the faith life of others. Here they led Advent Prayers in the Prayer Garden.

Supporting Aquaid
Here at Our Lady Queen of Peace, we are proud to support the work of the Africa Trust and Christian Aid. in order to do this we have installed to Aquaid water coolers to keep our pupils hydrated throughout the school day and as a result have been able to assist in the installation of 'Elephant pumps' in Africa to provide fresh, safe drinking water to those in great need.
