Forest School Lead / PPA Cover: Mrs Ritson

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Laing

Computing HLTA: Mrs Jauncey

Welcome to your new school, we can't wait to start your exciting learning journey with you! From whizzing to space to scouring Forest School for minibeasts, we have a busy year ahead …

THEMES:

· Autumn term: Getting to know you (ourselves and celebrations)

· Spring term: What on Earth? (Space and Around the World)

· Summer term: Come Outside (Growing and Minibeasts)

Please see the overview in the file below for details of what will be learnt in each curriculum area,

TIMETABLE:

· PE is on Monday and Wednesday please come dressed in full PE kit and ensure earrings are removed. Each child is expected to have a PE kit in line with the school uniform policy.

· Computing is on Tuesday with Mrs Jauncey.

· Forest School on a Thursday with Mrs Ritson. Please ensure the children’s legs and arms are covered to keep them safe in Forest School and they are wearing clothes that can get muddy.

HOMEWORK:

· Reading is expected every night. Please record a comment in your child's reading record. Reading books and records should be in school everyday so that we can hear your child read and change their books.

· There will be additional tasks set which will help your child to consolidate their learning; there will be weekly phonics and writing homework as well as other tasks which will embed the children’s understanding of topics.

What will the children need in school?

· Everyday each child should bring to school their book bag containing their reading record and reading book.

· A tissue in a pocket or sleeve.

· A bottle filled with a drink for lunch should be with each child every day. Please do not place bottles in book bags.

· Each child is provided with a water bottle which will be kept in school.

· If you think your child needs it, a carrier bag with a change of clothes and underwear can be kept on their peg in case of a wet ‘accident’. Reception Class is such an exciting and busy place that sometimes the children ‘forget’ that they need to use the toilet! Please reassure your child that if they are wet they should tell a member of staff straightaway so that we can help them to find their fresh clothes.
